Guys. You guys. No really. Y'all. This margarita is IT. AND it is purple! This is fresh spin on a margarita because...well...immune systems are important during a pandemic. And lets just say no to that premixed stuff...fresh is best! I am always looking for creative ways to get good things in my body and THIS recipe wins 2020 for sure. Let me know if you make it!
Mason Jar Elderberry Margarita
Ingredients:
1 Shot Tequila
1/2 Shot Orange Triple Sec Liquor
1/2 Shot Honey Simple Syrup
1/2 Shot Sambucol Elderberry Syrup
Juice of 2 medium Oranges
Juice of 1/2 Lime
Salt for the rim
Ice
Directions:
Use the lime to rub the rim of your cup and turn the cup over into a plate of salt. Fill the cup with ice. Squeeze the juice from 2 medium oranges into your cup. Add tequila, orange triple sec, honey simple syrup, and elderberry syrup. Squeeze in lime, give it a stir. Enjoy!
*If you want to make your own honey simple syrup, it is equal parts water and honey. Boil the water as it will help the honey dissolve. Measure out 1/2 cup of honey and 1/2 cup hot water. Stir together. Add it to cocktails in place of regular sugar simple syrup.
*Notes on ingredients: Get a good orange liquor, a lot of them have high fructose corn syrup and they don't have to put it on the label. But a good one will say that it doesn't have HFCS.
And the tequila...my favorite lately is Hacienda De Chihuahua Sotol Plata. It is organic, wild harvested and it tastes like flowers!
Hope you find some good summer jams to sit back and sip this to. I have gotten into afrobeats this summer. If you need a good Spotify station to catch the vibe...go on and click right here. You won't regret it. You will be vibin' in your kitchen in no time.
All the love - Michal
